FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH
Through a combination of online and onsite research, Claire is able to help build a family tree and uses a wide variety of records to prove relationships between different generations. In depth research allows her to reconstruct the life of an ancestor, determining occupation, religious affiliation and involvement in the community for example and she can also place people within their historical context. Claire can visit local and state repositories in Connecticut and also has experience working in New York City. For those with “brick walls”, Claire can organize research, analyze findings and determine the next steps. She is also able to help with non-Connecticut ancestors by performing all necessary online research and then managing national and international researchers to do onsite work.
Clients are typically provided with a source cited research report which documents what resources were used, analyzes findings and provides suggestions for further research. It also includes copies of any documents obtained and a family tree when appropriate.
RECORD RETRIEVAL
As a member of the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council and Connecticut Society of Genealogists, Claire is able to obtain birth, marriage and death records that are often unavailable to the public. She can also retrieve other documents i.e. obituaries, city directory entries etc…from state or local repositories.
FORENSIC GENEALOGY
As a forensic genealogist Claire can help with determining and locating missing heirs and beneficiaries for law firms and private companies. She has access to a wide variety of online databases, including a number of valuable newspaper archives, allowing her to construct a family tree and track down living family members from all over the country. She can also perform any necessary onsite research in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island and has numerous contacts who can help when research is required further afield. Having been employed by a missing heir firm, Claire is also experienced with working quickly on competitive cases.
